Science on the Bayou, September 19th

 

 We hope you'll join us next Tuesday (19 Sept) for an interactive event exploring the deep sea.

 

Did you know that most of our planet is very deep ocean, that most of the deep ocean has never been explored, and that the deep ocean is populated by a rich diversity of animals? 

 

Join us for Science on the Bayou on Tuesday, Sept. 19th, and learn about deep-sea biology with Dr. Scott France, Professor of Biology at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. We will also be participating in a LIVE interaction with scientists and engineers on board the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer as it explores a never-before seen area of the deep ocean north of Hawaii as part of the Deep-Sea Symphony: Exploring the Musicians Seamounts expedition.

 

We're excited to be back at the Lafayette Science Museum, so feel free to bring the whole family. The Jefferson Street Pub will have beverages available for purchase, so come a little early and stick around for the interactive event beginning at 7. Enter the museum from the back doors on E. Congress St. (facing Parc San Souci).

 

You can also spend a few minutes before or after checking out the new Virtual Reality exhibit at the museum. This first-of-its-kind exhibit completely transports you into immersive new worlds with 8 science-themed stations (including a deep sea one!) and Acadiana 360, a captivating new way to experience our uniquely Cajun culture.
