Physics graduating senior selected for NASA STEM research initiative
Wed, 02/09/2022 - 11:17amPhysics undergraduate, Chansey Champagne, has been selected to participate in NASA's L'Space Academy. L'Space (LUCY Student Pipeline Accelerator and Competency Enabler) is the LUCY Mission to the Trojan Asteroids' STEM education initiative. This 12-week academy introduces undergraduate students who are interested in a career in space sciences and space flight to planetary mission concept design. She will spend the Spring 2022 semester learning about NASA protocols and mission design procedures from NASA mission specialists. At the end of this semester, she will be eligible to apply to be a LUCY mission intern. Lucy launched on October 16, 2021 and will reach its first target in the asteroid belt on April 25, 2025. Chansey aims to be part of this exciting mission during her graduate studies after she graduates from UL Lafayette as a Physics major with a Geology concentration in Spring 2023.
