Lynn and Andy Hollerman of Glowz BBQ

Three pits set-up and ready to cook

Since 2003, Glowz team members Lynn and Andy Hollerman from Lafayette, LA have been involved in competition BBQ. Starting with judging in Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) and Memphis BBQ Network (MBN) contests, the Hollermans branched into officiating as Head Judges for the International BBQ Cookers Association in 2007 and as coordinators for the Louisiana BBQ Cookers Association (LABCA) in 2009. Also starting in 2009, the Hollermans began cooking in BBQ contests under the name of Glowz BBQ. In spite of their busy work, judging, and officiating schedules, Glowz BBQ manages to cook in more than four BBQ contests each year. In May 2011, the Hollermans won their First Grand Championship at a sanctioned BBQ contest in Kountze, TX also winning the brisket category. In spite of it all, the goal of Glowz BBQ is to have a good time cooking championship quality BBQ.

Why Glowz BBQ? This name was chosen to honor the topic of Dr. Andy's physics research. Since the early 1990's Dr. Hollerman has been working to investigate the physical properties of luminescent materials. These materials glow in the dark when excited. Making things glow in the dark, either in physics research or cooking championship caliber BBQ has been a passion of the Hollermans for many years!
